The National Alliance of Respiratory Therapy Regulatory Bodies
History of the Alliance
In 1994 the Respiratory Therapy Labour Mobility Consortium (RTLMC) was formed to meet the federal government’s requirements of the Agreement on Internal Trade. During its evolution, the group created the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) for respiratory therapy and, eventually, the National Competency Profile which is currently being used as the entry to practice across all regulated jurisdictions and by the CSRT. In 2003, the RTLMC became the National Alliance Respiratory Therapy Regulatory Bodies, and this group continues to maintain and promote these national standards. The NARTRB is also involved in special projects according to the needs of the RT regulatory environment and its statement of purpose.
